These would be very good for front loaders, or if you have people who like to close the lid after a cycle, or use fabric softener. That trapped moisture can lead to mildew, and the residue from the detergents/softeners/other stuff can also lead to smellsIf you use fabric softener (I suggest not, since it's bad for clothes and your machine) this tablet is something I'd recommend to try and get the residue of it out of your machine which will in turn help cut down on the smell.For my washer, these didn't do much to the tub itself, as we leave the lid open to dry out (and to throw dish towels in as needed) so I don't have much of a mildew scent before.I will still continue to use these on the schedule they suggest, as we have hard water, and likely have mineral buildup in the parts of the machine and hoses I can't see.I like the eco-friendly packaging, and the amount in the package. I appreciate the steps the company has taken to be zero waste and to use plant based ingredients.From what I can see, these are just citric acid. Which is commonly sold as a powder. It works best with hot water.So, this is citric acid powder pressed into a tablet. For some, the convenience of pre portioned packs, with no mess, spills, or having to store in an airtight container is absolutely worth the price. I can see this being nice if you have kids, being one less thing you have to think about.
